Abstract • Three nights of blue and red spectroscopy of the extreme-amplitude dwarf nova GW Lib at quiescence show that the orbital period is 79.4 minutes and the semiamplitude of the Hβ emission-line velocity curve is 40.0 km s-1. The emission lines are very narrow and are surrounded by absorption troughs. The spectra are roughly consistent with that of a white dwarf of temperature near 11,000 K contributing 100% of the light at a distance of 114 pc. The short orbital period and low M are consistent with the general properties of extreme-amplitude dwarf novae.
