SPHEREx data are now available at IRSA! SPHEREx is a NASA Astrophysics Medium Explorer mission that launched in March 2025. During its planned two-year mission, SPHEREx will obtain 0.75-5 micron spectroscopy over the entire sky, with deeper data in the SPHEREx Deep Fields. IRSA will release new SPHEREx Quick Release Spectral Images on a weekly basis, with additional releases of higher-level data products planned over the next three years.
SPHEREx spectral images can be explored and visualized using the SPHEREx Data Explorer, a user-friendly web application (video tutorial). Users who need to access SPHEREx data via scripts can use astroquery to obtain SPHEREx spectral images. An example Python notebook is available in IRSA's Tutorial Notebook Repository. Users interested in bulk downloads may find the browsable directories convenient. SPHEREx data are also available on the cloud via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Open Data Repository.
IRSA's User Support Team is standing by to answer any questions you may have about SPHEREx data access.
