Solange Ramírez (Carnegie Obs.) -- History of the Sloan Surveys and How SDSS-V Is Changing the Game

In this talk, I will present a brief history of the Sloan Survey which started about 25 years ago. Over the years, it has evolved from a pure photometric optical survey to a pure spectroscopic optical and infrared survey. I will present the key characteristics that make SDSS unique and also challenging in terms of management. I will finish with an overview of SDSS-V and its new hardware capabilities.
