The densest and the fluffiest galaxies // Nearly 100 years ago, Hubble formulated a classification system for galaxies that remains definitive, along with the addition of dwarf galaxies. However, since the start of the 21st century, several new varieties of stellar system have been recognized that do not fit in neatly with the standard taxonomy -- including in particular the ultracompact dwarfs (UCDs) and the ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs). I will present an overview of these enigmatic stellar systems, along with their interrelations, and new discoveries about their stellar populations and dark matter content.
