Abstract

The discovery of the bow shock at delta Velorum, originating from the star's interaction with its surrounding ISM (Gaspar et al. 2008), shows that such interactions can imitate debris disks, even within the Local Bubble.
What are the general conditions for such effects and how common are they? We report the discovery of a new bow shock within 35 parsecs. We also estimate the number statistics of such systems with a nearly complete sample within a distance of 45 parsecs.
