What COBE Might See: The Far-Infrared Cosmological Background

Abstract • The redshifted emission from infrared luminous galaxies should produce a diffuse background around 300 microns detectable by the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE). The detection of such emission would provide evidence for evolution in the density or luminosity of galaxies in the infrared.
