Appendix I: Large NED Galaxies and RNGC Objects
in the First Release Database

The automated extended source processor GALWORKS utilizes, in part, as a seed catalog a list of NED galaxies with published optical sizes larger than ~30 arcsec. These sources are assumed to be galaxies and are measured and extracted as such. Similarly, large sources in the RNGC catalog are also used as seed detections.

The following lists correspond to the catalogued galaxies and RNGC objects used in GALWORKS. Nearly all of the sources so deemed were processed and extracted, the exceptions being the galaxies M32 and M90 which were considered too large to process.

Cautionary note: some of the larger galaxies that were processed (e.g., NGC 2903) turn out to be too large for reliable background subtraction and photometry, and thus their extracted measurements are largely meaningless..
