Displayed here are prelimiary PHT-S spectra of galaxies arranged in order of increasing IRAS 60um-to-100um flux density ratio. Each galaxy contains two spectra displayed side by side, one from 2.5 to 5 microns (64 pixels) and the other from 6 to 12 microns (64 pixels).

Remarks:

The 6-to-12um range is dominated by known PAH features at 6.2, 7.7, 8.6, and 11.3 microns. The 2-to-5um range is quite noisy, making it difficult to address any possible line features. The 10 or so pixels shortward of 3 microns are known to have problems, so the apparent up-rising of the spectram towards the short wavelength end may not be real.

The flux scale shown is in Jy (assuming point sources for now; these will be revised to be flux densities within the PHT-S 24"x24" aperture). Based on the current calibration tables, the absolute flux scale is probably good only to a factor of 2 to 3. But the relative (wavelength-to-wavelength) flux accuracy could be as accurate as within 30% to 40% (excluding some end pixels).

These are all 16 PHT-S spectra shipped to IPAC by 19 October 1996, reduced by N. Y. Lu with PIA (v4.9.5):
