Using IPAC's Visitor Wireless Network

If you are visiting an IPAC office and need to connect to the Internet, you may use the IPAC Visitor Wireless Network.

If you have used IPAC's Visitor Wireless Network at least once before March 5, 2009, you will need to update your computer's wireless profile due to recent network upgrades.

To Connect to IPAC-Wireless

    1. Activate wireless networking according to your specific machine and operating system. (On Macs, turn on AirPort; in Windows, use Windows Wireless Networking to scan available wireless networks.)

    2. Select or direct your machine to connect to the IPAC-Wireless network.

    3. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Safari) and go to http://www.ipac.caltech.edu.

Note: If your browser displays a page or pop-up message asking you to accept a certificate, or whether you want to continue, opt to continue or accept (the message varies depending on your web browser).

    4. In the web page login screen, enter ipac-wl for the user name and Astronomy for the password (using exact case).

Once logged in, a No Cat Authentication screen or pop-up displays. (You may need to configure your browser to temporarily allow pop-ups). Keep this screen or pop-up open while using the wireless network, then click Logout when finished.

To Update Your Wireless Profile

Follow these instructions if you connected to the IPAC-Wireless network at least once prior to March 5, 2009.

If you connected to the Visitor-WL-Pictor network, there is no need to update your profile because that network was decommissioned. Please use IPAC-Wireless instead.
