ANALYSIS TOOLS & PACKAGES

SKYVIEW (IPAC): An image display and analysis program for the interactive analysis of astronomical data using the X-Windows user interface. SKYVIEW is primarily intended for the analysis of flux/intensity and position calibrated scientific imagery. It can also overlay contour plots on images; slice out and analyze planes from image cubes; graphically illustrate the output of database queries onto corresponding images; and interact easily with other programs through the use of a server mode.

IRAS/HIRES: HIgh-RESolution data processing uses the Maximum Correlation Method to produce IRAS images with improved spatial resolution over the nominal images. It can produce resolutions of better than an arcminute, roughly a five-fold increase over the un-enhanced resolution, although the actual resolution achieved for a given source varies in a complicated fashion. HIRES is suitable for studying morphology, or doing aperture photometry.

IRAS/SCANPI: IRAS Scan Processing and Integration is an interactive software tool for viewing, plotting and averaging calibrated survey scans, the fundamental data from the IRAS survey. SCANPI is useful for measuring the fluxes of extended, confused or faint sources, for diagnosing source extent, and for estimating local upper limits.

ISO Analysis: Various analysis packages for ISO data. Includes ISO Spectral Analysis Package (ISAP) for LWS, SWS, and PHT-S data analysis, and the LWS Interactive Analysis (LIA) software package for LWS data reduction. Also includes links to other packages such as CIA, PIA and OSIA. This site also includes the First Look Tools, which provide an initial look at ISO data.

WITS: The Web Infrared Tool Shed is a collection of web pages and programs for the analysis of astronomical objects that emit primarily in the wavelength range 2 microns to 1 millimeter. WITS consists of a PDR Toolbox offering plots of physical parameters as a function of observable quantities for standard-model PDRs and an interactive fitting of observables to models. It also hosts a Dust InfraRed Toolbox, a comprehensive Java applet for modeling astrophysical process in circumstellar dust shells around young and evolved stars.

Montage: An astronomical image mosaic service for the National Virtual Observatory.
