NASA FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR US PARTICIPATION IN HERSCHEL SCIENCE
a) NASA funding of US-based participation in Herschel Open Time Key
Programs
US-based investigators who are proposing to ESA for Herschel Open Time
Key Programs have the opportunity to obtain funding for successful
proposals. The deadline for acceptance of the Key Program Data Analysis
(DA/KP) funding proposals is October 26, 2007 at 5.00 pm PDT. Note
that this is the day after the ESA deadline for the Herschel
proposals themselves. For more details, please visit our website at:

b) Theoretical Research (TR) and Laboratory Astrophysics (LA) Funding
The deadline for proposals to request funding for Herschel-related
theoretical astrophysics and laboratory astrophysics is August 1st,
2007, 5.00 pm PDT. More details about the program and how to apply are

NHSC OPEN TIME KEY PROGRAM OBSERVATION PLANNING WORKSHOP
The NHSC will be offering a hands-on Herschel Observation Planning
Workshop oriented toward the Open Time Key Program submission. The
workshop will be held in Pasadena at the Infrared Processing and
Analysis Center on the Caltech Campus in Pasadena, CA on July 18 and
19th 2007. The registration deadline is June 30th 2007 and
registration is now open. For more information and registration

IPAC VISITING GRADUATE STUDENT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2007/8
IPAC announces the availability of two visiting graduate student
fellowships this year starting in the fall of 2007. The
program, which is similar in nature to the successful SSC program,
allows a graduate student from institutions outside of Caltech to work
with an IPAC scientist for 6-months on a research project relating to
IR or sub-mm astronomy. The deadline for applications is July 1st
2007, for a fall start. Instructions about the application process and a
