Extended Data Processing and Analysis Tools
The following list of tools and packages is intended as a guide for the Herschel Open Time Key Project Teams as they develop their own analysis plans. Note that many of the tools included here are still under development; this summary is not intended as a definitive list of packages available to the user.
The Herschel Instruments Page provides an overview as well as links to detailed information on each of the Observatory's instruments: HIFI PACS and SPIRE.
Currently Known Work Packages Under Development as part of Herschel DP:
Spectral tools
PURPOSE
NOTES
Spectral Arithmetics for a Selection of Spectra

PURPOSE
NOTES
CASSIS
spectroscopy
Interactive line-fitting and identification for a spectrum.
Can generate synthetic LTE absorption and/or emission spectra for user-supplied
physical conditions or template astrophysical objects, using the JPL and CDMS
spectral databases.

Imaging tools
PURPOSE
NOTES
MADCUBA
imaging
.
MADmap
SPIRE photometry
Produces sky maps from time-ordered instrument data.
Particularly useful for handling 1/f noise.
Will be run as part of standard pipeline,
but users may wish to run it outside of the pipeline in some situations for improved noise-handling, flux conservation, iterative processing.

PACS
SPIRE photometry
Tool to extract point sources from images.
