The NHSC will provide financial support for investigators selected to
conduct Theoretical (TR) Research programs or Laboratory Astrophysics
(LA) programs that directly enhance the scientific return of the
Herschel Mission, subject to the availability of NASA funds. The
proposed programs should provide a lasting benefit for current or
future observational programs with Herschel. The proposals should
address a topic that is of direct relevance to Herschel observational
programs, and this relevance should be explained in the proposal. The
results of the TR or LA investigation should be made available to the
community in a timely fashion, by effective means that should be
described in the proposal. For example, models or algorithms and
laboratory measurements produced should be made available to the
community in addition to publishing the scientific results in the
peer-reviewed literature.
A TR or LA proposal is submitted only if investigators are seeking
funding support.
